Name
Aretao is a word of classical Greek origin. It means growth toward excellence or virtue. Both its meaning and its origin are significant to us.
Its origin is significant because Greece is widely recognized as the birthplace of democracy. There are few ideas in the history of the world that are as important to who we are as humans, and who we can become, as is self-government. Self-government is a necessary precondition for liberty, and therefore is a vital condition in which individuals can nurture their abilities to reach their greatest potential.
The meaning of our name is significant because Aretao represents our striving for excellence, the effort that the individuals in our organization put forth to become excellent, "virtuous."
