Internet Tools for Academic Excellence will increase your understanding of Web2.0-style internet tools such as blogs, podcasts, and tagging. The course will also equip you to integrate these tools into instruction so that student understanding is enhanced.

Course Objectives
This course will enable participants to do the following:
- Understand and to discuss the issues surrounding the use of internet tools
- Demonstrate an enhanced knowledge and understanding of current and emerging trends in internet-based tools
- Use the knowledge gained in the development of enhanced learning environments through the use of internet-based tools
- Develop curriculum materials using resources accessed with internet tools
- Practice professional collaboration online in creation of materials
- Identify uses for internet tools that enhance personal and professional productivity
Course Requirements:
Participants taking the course for a certificate of 40 hours professional development will be expected to:
- Do the course readings
- Participate in the course forums by posting at least six substantive posts each week
Participants taking the course for 3 graduate credits from San Diego University will be expected to:
- Do the course readings
- Participate in the course forums by posting at least six substantive posts each week
- Complete one of the three projects
- Write a final paper of no fewer than 2,500 words OR write a final paper of no fewer than 2,000 words and create an executive summary PowerPoint presentation of no more than 25 slides.
